This team has been doing team development work for one year. The initial benchmark assessment identified how the team gets derailed from the strategic plan - to facilitate the growth of the company.  A clear focus on Strategy, behaviours to promote clear communications with internal clients, and setting expectations and driving accountability with senior leadership for the sake of strong corporate growth and visibility.

Our Approach

We worked in collaboration with the Director of this team to design a team development process that would support the evolution of the team's leadership in preparing this company for its growth. We collectively identified the challenges, and determined the start point was to understand how they were functioning and what needed to shift for them to be more strategic and bring increased value to the corporation.

Methodology

  1. Completed Team Diagnostic, 2 day workshop with entire team
  2. 30 / 60 day teleconference follow-ups
  3. Quarterly one day off site meetings of team - focused on behaviours and actions that promote alignment with strategic plan
  4. 8 teleconference calls per year - team coaching check ins

 

Results

  1. the team is clear about their respective and collective role in the organization
  2. they have created shared performance goals for the team
  3. they are staying aligned with their strategic plan
  4. they are aware when they 'go off plan' and they support each other to get back on track
  5. they are having new conversations with senior leaders, helping them understand they need to shift their own behaviours to serve what is best for the organization
  6. their last 2 internal events have operated more smoothly and clearly than historically
  7. the CEO is clear about how they can support the foundation for growth.

We have provided leadership coaching to senior executives and team leaders and we have provided ongoing learning and development and coaching for 3 intact work teams. Our Approach

We started our work with this organization in  2003, when we initiated and women's  leadership development program for 7 women in the marketing communications team. This spawned the continuation of one on one coaching for this team.  In the following 2 years, this team continued the team development process that supported the team developing as one cohesive system. During this time, 5 of the 7 members of the team were promoted.  Following the work with this team, we have worked with the global marketing team and the international marketing team and members of the Canadian Sales team. We continue to work in partnership with this organization as it undergoes further growth in 2008.
